"Not Quite Myself" began as an exploration of perception and image through self-portraiture using various fragments of other people's faces with my own face as the canvas for the collage. Each piece represents a visual separation of mind and person allowing a certain vulnerability, an ugliness free from self-awareness. The photos ask the viewer to deconstruct and consider the elements of what makes us - our faces as a whole or the individual characteristics.
Each image was shot using an iphone, the facial features were each actual magazine cut outs taped to either the artist or model's face. Final results all created through iphone and limited iphone photo apps for color tweaking...none of the images have been photoshopped no facial details added after the photo was shot.
